About Us

KINDLY NOTE, OUR AGENCY IS A 100% VOLUNTEER NONPROFIT CORPORATION WITH NO PAID EMPLOYEES.

Our primary mission is to create a the first local, state, regional and national database of hotlines, helplines, text chat and web chat services from scratch. We have chosen this mission because no such database exists.

Our database, which as of March 1, 2020 has over 20,000 phone numbers, is designed to be an easy to search, open source, online directory. Our website includes a developing wiki-style Resource Library for Hotline related topics and many other tools, including free membership and the ability for members to build their own forward facing (approved) junior website.

Please visit 4help.org for more about our nonprofit's offerings.

Each hotline at 4help.org has its own dynamic page, containing collected data. Each page can be claimed by its owner and updated. Additional information about the hotline and services provided by the owner can be added.

By the end of March 2020, we plan to have our database connected to a phone directory system, which will accessed for free, by anyone in need of a hotline or helpline by dialing #4Help (#44357) from any cell phone.

Callers will have the option to be routed to a hotline using an anonymous phone number (a system similar to Uber) and at the callers option a SMS will be sent with information about the hotline. Our system is designed to handle text messaging with anonymous phone numbers as well.

Because there is no government oversight or regulations for the hotline industry, which has been booming due to large investments of money and time by non-profit corporations & their donors as well as my many government agencies, as reserved, we have built into our database the ability to collect objective data related to each individual hotline's performance.

Statistics will be generated about each hotline and helpline by combining voluntary feedback and objective data from routed calls, "click to calls" and text chat, such as:

  • How many rings until pick up,
  • Time on hold,
  • Length of call
  • Other non-intrusive data
  • Time between text chat responses
  • Indications of handling more than one caller or texter at a timer and
  • Many other available data points

will be collected and made available to the public.

Combining objective statistics wiith voluntary feedback from individuals that use our service, should, over time, create a way by which the public can assess the performance of hotlines and helplines listed at 4help.org.

We do not accept advertising from hotlines. There is no pay per click, search engine marketing (SEM) or search engine optimization (SEO) at 4help.org. All hotlines and helplines stand on equal footing, regardless of their name or size

To meet our mission, since the summer of 2019, volunteers have been scraping hundreds of websites, and collecting relevant data about thousands of governmental and nonprofit hotlines and helplines. We hope to list and be able to connect people in need to all (as many as possible) of the existing non-profit and governmental helplines and hotlines.

To this end, we include an "Add Your Hotline" web form at 4help.org and we continue to search for more services to add to our database.

Phase two of our mission is to brand #4Help and 4help.org.

We recently began utilizing our Google grant and are slowly ramping up our Adwords campaign.

We have also devised a boots on ground plan for helping us to get the word out about #4Help that entails soliciting assistance from as many high school students as possible.

Our plan includes National Hotline Volunteers Month, the first annual event will take place in October of 2020.

We're hoping to find volunteers that are interested in assisting us with the following projects.

PROJECT #1: We're looking for feedback from Idealist volunteers about our outreach plan and for assistance with implementing it.

PROJECT #2: We also continue to need help adding hotlines and helplines to our database, while at the same time improving our structuring of categories and keywords to make searching easier and more efficient.

Please consider helping us with meeting our mission, by joining us on one of these major projects.

We believe that if we're able to brand #4help and 4help.org, they will be life changing instruments for millions of people in need. We also believe that our mission is unique, clear, concise and doable.
