The Glaucoma Foundation

About Us

Established in 1984 by Dr. Robert Ritch, The Glaucoma Foundation is the premier not-for-profit organization committed to leading the fight against glaucoma and to identifying new treatments and cures. Research holds great promise for the 3 million Americans and 67 million people worldwide who suffer from glaucoma. Imagine a future in which it is possible to:

Protect nerve cells from damage.
Regenerate eyesight lost from glaucoma.
Predict one's risk for glaucoma before the disease appears.
Prevent glaucoma from developing at all.
The Glaucoma Foundation's goal is to transform these possibilities into sight-saving breakthroughs that will improve the quality of life for current and future generations. Supporting and promoting innovative scientific study as well as encouraging collaborations among researchers in different fields and laboratories are The Foundation's priorities for 2004 and beyond.
