Liberian Education Fund

About Us

Our mission is to give students in Liberia opportunities by building connections among youth across the world.

Liberia, a small country in West Africa, was devastated by a 14-year civil war that ended in 2003. Today Liberia faces many challenges, one of which is an inadequate public education system. While public schools do exist, they are underfunded and overcrowded. Private schools offer a better education, however they charge tuition fees that most Liberians cannot afford.

To address this injustice, Liberian Education Fund (LEF) student chapters at high schools and universities in the US fundraise to provide scholarships to Liberian students. This scholarship program serves as a platform through which to encourage engagement, learning, and friendship between youth from different backgrounds. We believe that relationships founded in equality and respect allow youth in both countries to realize greater potential.

Our mission is to give students in Liberia opportunities by building connections among youth across the world.
