About Us

City Forest Credits (CFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that seeks to make American cities greener and healthier. We are engaged in the exciting and challenging work of registering our forests and trees in cities across the U.S. to produce urban carbon credits.

With rapid urbanization of the country, growth and development of our cities are causing tree loss every year. Public funding for urban forestry is falling far short as cities struggle with human service, utility, public safety, housing, and other issues. Our work enables tree planting and preservation projects in metro areas to earn and sell bundled carbon credits, thus generating new and much-needed private-sector funding to keep our cities green, healthy, and equitable. Our small team is Seattle-based, but we work on projects at a national scale. See this article on our work in CityLab.
