About Us

Evacuteer.org’s mission is to support the effective and respectful evacuation of communities during times of major crisis. We recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist in New Orleans’ public evacuation efforts.

New Orleans' City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) program will begin running when a mandatory evacuation is called in Orleans Parish. We expect that there are 35,000 - 40,000 New Orleanians without a safe or alternative option to evacuate who will need to use this resource, and our goal is to get everyone out of the city and on their way to safe shelter at least 30 hours ahead of a storm making landfall on the Louisiana coast.

In 2009, Evacuteer.org was formed to fill resource gaps for the city and serve our residents who need evacuation assistance. We advocate for families to ensure that they are:

•Treated with dignity and respect, as all should be

Informed as much as possible about the entire evacuation process

Stay together while they evacuate to safe shelter (including pets!)
