About Us

Chicago Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Academy (Chi-STEM) will open its doors in August of 2019 for Pre Kindergarten to 3rd grade and grow to full capacity, grades prek - 8, in 5 years. The school was conceived and developed by a group of educators and community leaders in Chicago and New York, convened and led by Friends in the City Foundation, a community nonprofit organization.


Vision Statement


The Chicago STEM Academy prepares students for the future economy through the teaching of science, technology, engineering and math. It is a growth mindset educational environment that emphasizes failure as an opportunity to grow, not a limit of abilities.


Mission and Results


At Chicago STEM Academy our mission, through combined efforts of staff, parents, students, and community, is to provide students with an education that provides a depth understanding of science, technology, engineering and math. In addition, to fostering a positive work ethic, and creating an environment that harbors rigor, respect and responsibility.
