Central Scholarship

Central Scholarship is a privately funded statewide nonprofit in Maryland, founded in Baltimore in 1924, now based in Owings Mills. We are devoted to helping individuals achieve a better life through higher education. We believe that education is a right, not a privilege and that scholarships are an investment, not an expense.  

We help low-income students from throughout Maryland pay for college, graduate school, and certificate training, awarding $1 million annually in scholarships and interest-free loans. 

Through our financial education series, College Cash (R), we educate students and parents about how to pay for college.

Through our state advocacy program focused on scholarship award displacement, we look out for the interests of low-income students.

Through our student loan paydown, we pay off the undergraduate debt of one of our student recipients, each year, up to $30,000, to bring attention to the national student debt crisis.
