About Us

Project Independence was established in 1977 by dedicated families who wanted more for their adult children then facilities. Today, Project Independence offers comprehensive services to over 750 Orange County consumers in their homes, at work, and throughout the community. Our Mission is to promote the community integration of persons with developmental disabilities and to create services which expand their opportunities for personal freedom and choice. Project Independence is based on a single premise: that a person with a developmental disability has the right to a life style and experiences that are similar their non disabled peer group. We believe that our consumers can choose services, make decisions and be active participants if well coordinated, excellent services are available to them.
