Children's Prize (CappSci)
In 2013, the inaugural Children’s Prize launched its global initiative with a mission to identify the best project that would more quickly and directly save the most children’s lives. The proposals submitted to save children’s lives were fascinating and exciting, but most applicants lacked evidence of impact and scientific proof of program effectiveness. As a result, the Children’s Prize continued its mission in 2014 under the name of Data for Life. The strategic decision to change the prize name for the 2014 year was a direct response to the dearth of reliable quantitative data for child survival estimates in the prize applicant pool. Today, the Children’s Prize employs fundamental evidence-based approaches and scientific worldviews to further the mission and increase effectiveness in child survival interventions.
