World Connect is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that connects international development with youth development to promote global development, with the goal of improving outcomes for women and children in the developing world. World Connect works closely with Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) in the field who identify local ideas and innovators with the potential to transform their communities and organize genuine grassroots projects. We bring our international development work into U.S. classrooms, giving young Americans practical experience with international development, teaching students about global issues, and building a stronger sense of community in our globalized world.
World Connect has worked in Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Morocco, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Belize, Costa Rica, Mali, Haiti and the Philippines and launched nearly 800 projects in nine years. Our projects improve health, the environment, and increase education and economic opportunity with a focus on women and children. We have built latrines, maternity clinics, libraries, water sources and greenhouses, and promoted women's leadership and empowerment, women-led small business development, sports leagues and environmental clubs for kids.
World Connect imagines a future where women and children are educated and valued, where their health concerns are acknowledged and treated, where they're respected for their skills, their pivotal roles in their communities, and where they can laugh, love, and enjoy life. World Connect empowers local leaders to drive change in their communities and in the process, we inspire young Americans to think and act globally and philanthropically by engaging them in our partnerships and our projects. At World Connect we believe that creating opportunities for women and children to thrive is within our reach, every day. We believe that when you help others your world changes. We make it simple.
