About Us

The International Tibet Support Network (ITSN) is a network of 137 Tibet related non-governmental organisations from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australasia and Europe. ITSN works to maximise the effectiveness of international Tibet support movement which is dedicated to ending human rights violations in Tibet and to actively support the Tibetan people's right under international law to determine their future political, economic, social, religious and cultural rights.

Our main focus is to 1. develop action plans and co-ordinate strategic campaigns for the Tibet movement, and 2. build the capacities of our member organisations.

ITSN was founded in May 2000, when more than 300 delegates from 52 countries voted for the establishment of a co-ordination body.

ITSN is governed by a Steering Committee made up of 19 leaders elected by Tibet support groups and two observers from the Tibetan government in exile.

ITSN is incorporated in the USA and has tax-exempt status there.
