The Home First Residences provide community supported, intergenerational housing programs for formerly homeless and low-income seniors. We operate three group homes for seniors in Northeast Washington, DC called Pleasant Hill, Andrus House, and the House of Togetherness. Pleasant Hill provides supportive housing with a 24-hour caregiving staff, while Andrus House and the House of Togetherness both provide independent living for seniors.
The Age-In-Place® program focuses on providing service to low income seniors who are aging in their own homes. Age-In-Place is a volunteer-based program that provides free yard work and house cleaning for low to moderate income seniors living in wards 4 and 5. The mission of the program is to help seniors maintain their homes so that they can age in a safe, clean, and healthy environment. We also work proactively to stop homelessness by helping seniors in need avoid hefty fines and even evictions in some cases. Volunteering with Age-In-Place is a great way to connect with the local community!
