About VolunQuest

At VolunQuest, we pride ourselves on providing an unparalleled volunteer experience abroad. Our family run foundation has over thirty years of experience working with the local community of Isla Mujeres. This allows our volunteers an authentic experience working beside community stakeholders while also assuring our volunteers the utmost in safety and security. We work with a diverse group of creditable agencies such as local governments, unions and non-profit organizations. These organizations are dedicated to the wellbeing and advancement of the local people and environment. Beyond the incredible opportunity to work with, and learn from, these esteemed groups, volunteers also receive references from them for use in their future endeavors.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide an exemplary volunteer experience that mutually enriches the local community and the lives of our volunteers. For nearly six years, we provided free English language education to 1st-6th grade children in the public primary schools in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. This was a unique opportunity to teach English in actual nationally accredited schools with little or no previous teaching experience. Our volunteers were given certificates of participation from the Secretary of Education of the state of Quintana Roo that they can later reference on future educational or professional applications. We followed a strict national curriculum, include one week of training, daily supervised lesson planning, teaching supervision and materials. Because of unfortunate circumstances in December 2018, VolunQuest had to withdraw English language education from the primary schools, but we will continue to fight to find other solutions to provide this necessity to every single child in Isla Mujeres. In the Community

We additionally sponsor a plethora of other projects that aid the local community and environment. These projects have diverse aims including wildlife conservation, arts education, and urban development. In choosing the projects we support and commit to, we focused on organizations that empower the participants. As the ancient Chinese proverbs goes, "give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. " We believe that the best way to move towards positive change is to enable people to take control of their own destinies.
