    Description

    The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Program at the Center for Human Development has been helping citizens and businesses of Contra Costa County settle disputes amicably since 1984. We are seeking dedicated and trained mediators to volunteer their time so that we can serve more community members. All of our mediations are held over Zoom, allowing all participants the flexibility to participate from the comfort of home. Our services are provided on a sliding-scale basis and we don’t turn away anyone due to lack of funds.

    Qualification: 40 Hour Mediation Certification (must meet DRPA requirements)

    We are looking for individuals who are/have:

    • Ability to remain neutral and non-judgmental
    • Sensible, compassionate and empathetic
    • Strong active listening skills
    • Strong verbal communication skills
    • Patience and like working with people
    • Able to work well independently and with others
    • Punctual and have good attendance
    • Articulate and speak/write English fluently (multiple languages are a bonus, but not required)
    • Age 21 and up
    • Time to commit to serving the community
    • Availability during business hours

    Time Commitment: At least 1 year (4 mediations/year)
