    Description

    Whether you’re a hobbyist, artisan, musician, naturalist, performer, or lifelong learner we want to work with you as a program leader!

    The Errant Classroom is reimagining education by offering hands-on, in-person programs for kids, teens, adults, and families—all outside traditional classrooms. From embroidery to blacksmithing, storytelling to science experiments, woodworking to wild edibles... if you love it, you can teach it.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver engaging, real-world learning experiences in alignment with The Errant Classroom’s mission
    • Prepare and manage all necessary materials, tools, and safety items for the session (with guidance and reimbursement from TEC)
    • Facilitate programs with professionalism, flexibility, and care—whether working with children, teens, adults, or families
    • Track and report attendance; complete a brief post-program reflection via online form
    • Communicate clearly with The Errant Classroom team regarding logistics, updates, or needs
    • Adhere to field safety guidelines and participant care protocols

    Qualifications:

    • Strong content knowledge and experience in one or more areas relevant to our programs (e.g., nature, STEM, arts, storytelling, trades, cultural skills, etc.)
    • Prior experience working with learners of any age in an instructional or mentoring role
    • Ability to independently manage a program setting, including setup and breakdown
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
    • Dependable transportation and willingness to travel locally or regionally (if needed)
    • Background check clearance (required before program delivery)

    Pay & Compensation

    • 50/50 profit split between you and The Errant Classroom after deducting materials, venue rentals, and vendor/event fees.
    • We handle: venue costs, registration, marketing, participant communication, and insurance coverage, you handle the teaching and materials required for the course outline.

    As a 1099 contractor:

    • You are self-employed
    • You control your schedule and offerings
    • You are responsible for tracking and reporting your income during tax season
    • This is not an employee position—no benefits or payroll taxes are withheld

    Level of Language Proficiency

    English for communicating in-person classes. Multiple languages accepted for in-person program concepts.
