    Description

Are you looking for an entry-level professional experience that will shape your career and contribute to the future of transportation in the United States?

Accelerate, a workforce development initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 internship cohort! (September 2, 2025- December, 2025)

This is a unique opportunity to work with Clean Cities and Communities, a DOE partnership focused on enhancing the nation’s energy security, supporting economic prosperity, and improving air quality by fostering locally driven transportation energy choices that leverage domestic energy resources and innovative mobility technologies through collaborative partnerships with public and private stakeholders. Clean Cities and Communities is comprised of coalitions across the country that work to deploy affordable, efficient, fuel-saving technologies and practices; and energy-efficient mobility systems.

Whether you're an undergraduate, graduate student, or a recent graduate (within the past year), Accelerate offers exposure to a wide range of career paths, and the chance to contribute to high-impact projects that will help launch your career in the advanced transportation space. Depending on the initiatives of the coalition they’re working with, interns could get hands-on experience in event planning, communications and marketing, content creation, air quality mapping, community outreach, and more! Projects are wide-ranging and more details for each location can be found in the application.

Here are more details about the internship:

    • All majors are welcome to apply, especially those majoring in communications, public relations, business, marketing, environmental sciences, engineering, and urban planning.
    • Internships are available in many locations, with in person, hybrid, and remote work policies available, depending on the preference of each coalition.
    • Internships are offered for 15 or 20 hours per week over 14 weeks.
    • Accelerate offers stipends ranging from $3,150-6,048 depending on your academic level, location, and hours assigned by the coalition.
    • This internship will take place from approximately September 2-December 12 and applications are due by 11:59pm PT on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025.
