The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is recruiting applicants for the 2026 Attorney General Fellowship Program. The following are some program highlights:
For 2026, we are offering one (1) placement in each of the following bureaus.
Placements in New York City
The Executive Division handles complex investigations and civil enforcement actions to end and remediate practices that harm the public, including matters that relate to the opioid crisis and firearms. This team also leads affirmative challenges to federal agency action, relying upon the Administrative Procedure Act, constitutional claims, and other relevant law, to protect New York’s interests. Litigation matters frequently present complex questions of constitutional law and statutory and regulatory interpretation and generally have significant policy and financial implications for the state. Location is New York, NY
The Litigation Bureau represents the state, its officers, and its agencies in state and federal courts in actions involving almost every substantive area of the law. Litigation protects the public interest by defending constitutional challenges to state statutes, regulations, policies, and practices and by bringing actions to enforce state laws and regulations. Location is New York, NY
Protect Our Homes Initiative (POHI)
The POHI is an interdisciplinary team with expertise in criminal and civil enforcement that seeks to preserve ownership by protecting New York homeowners from fraud and scams. The POHI team develops strategies to combat deed theft and other real estate scams targeting vulnerable homeowners; reviews complaints and commences civil enforcement actions; analyzes and collaborates on policy proposals, legislation, and amicus briefs; liaises with federal and state agencies, local governments, and nonprofits; and draft policy papers and other documents for publication. Location is New York, NY

Rochester Regional Office (RO)
The RO helps to carry out essential defensive, regulatory, and affirmative justice functions. Each RO is deeply engaged in local community affairs; conducting outreach and educational presentations; and responding to New Yorkers’ complaints in critical areas such as elder abuse, consumer fraud, tenants’ rights, immigration services fraud, election fraud, and not-for-profit corporations. Location is Rochester, NY
Sex Offender Management Bureau (SOMB)
The SOMB was created to represent the state in all Mental Hygiene Law Article 10 litigation. Cases in SOMB frequently present questions of the Mental Hygiene Law, criminal law, constitutional law, agency law, and statutory interpretation. The SOMB also works in concert with the Article 10 partners to develop statewide protocols to further the goals of Article 10 in ensuring public safety. Location is Albany, NY

The AG Fellowship Team reserves the right to make placement assignments based on the needs of OAG. Placement assignments will take into the account Fellows’ stated location preferences.
