    Position Title: Head Coach – Cheerleading

    Reports To: Athletic Director

    Employment Type: Seasonal, Stipend-Based

    Summary:

    The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for building and sustaining a cheer program that supports school spirit, enhances the game-day experience, and competes at a high level when applicable. This includes overseeing choreography, stunting, and fostering a disciplined and positive team culture.

    Responsibilities:

      • Lead all practices, performances, and competition routines
      • Teach cheer techniques, stunting, and sideline chants in a safe and progressive manner
      • Enforce safety, conduct, and participation standards
      • Coordinate with school staff and coaches for events and game-day performances
      • Communicate clearly with families and students
      • Manage team uniforms, scheduling, and equipment
      • Promote team spirit, school pride, and community involvement

    Qualifications:

      • Previous cheer coaching or cheerleading experience required
      • Experience with stunting and cheer safety protocols preferred
      • Must be available to report to MacArthur High School by 4:00 PM on weekdays
      • Must pass the DCPS Athletic Clearance Process, including fingerprinting and background checks
      • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
      • DCPS Coaching Certification (or ability to complete upon hire)
