Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell seeks an experienced leader to join her management team as the Chief of the Health Care Division.The Attorney General’s Health Care Division advocates for and enforces Massachusetts laws protecting health care consumers; works to promote health care access, affordability, and equity; and helps consumers understand their health care rights and mediates consumer disputes with health care payers and providers.
Primary Duties: The Division Chief, along with a Deputy Chief, is responsible for supervising and directing the activities of a division of approximately 20 employees, including Assistant Attorneys General, Mediators, Analysts, Paralegals, and an Administrative Assistant. The primary responsibilities of the Division Chief include the day-to-day supervision of all aspects of civil enforcement, including the review and approval of all civil investigative demands, civil complaints, briefs, and other court filings, as well as the development of investigative strategy and negotiation of civil settlements. The Division Chief also oversees the Division’s Mediation Unit, including the Unit Director, which staffs the Office’s Health Care Helpline and mediates consumer disputes. The Division Chief also works with Bureau leadership, the Senior Health Policy Advisor, and Division staff on monitoring health care market trends. The Division Chief is also responsible for the overall administration of the Division, including personnel matters, drafting periodic reports on the Division’s work, and attending regular meetings with the Attorney General and other senior staff. As time permits, the Division Chief personally handles significant or sensitive matters, including settlement negotiations and non-litigation projects.

Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date
Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt.
Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
Salary: $137,417
