Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated litigation attorney to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in her Energy & Ratepayer Advocacy Division (ERA).
Pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11E, ERA advocates on behalf of the customers of Massachusetts’ electric, gas, and water companies. ERA’s mission includes holding utilities accountable for providing just and reasonable rates; advocating for a smart, cost-effective, and equitable clean energy transition; and protecting consumers from predatory energy companies.
Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for performing legal work for ERA, which includes serving as lead or co-counsel in litigation before the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and federal and state courts; preparing briefs and other associated litigation and regulatory documents; conducting in-depth analysis and preparing legal memoranda regarding energy, water, or other regulatory-related topics; hiring and working with subject matter experts; interpreting laws and regulations; providing legal advice; strategizing and developing case-related action plans; and investigating and prosecuting civil energy enforcement cases.
Position Requirements:
Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.

Please Note: Our hybrid model includes some telework days for most positions.
Position Type: Full-time/Exempt
Salary: $84,134 – $125,572, commensurate with JD year and experience
Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
