About Us

The Office of the Senate Legal Counsel for the Senate of the Republic of Palau is the general counsel and legal adviser for the upper house of the Republic of Palau's legislature. Senate Legal Counsels are responsible for drafting legislation, issuing legal opinions, writing committee reports, advising senators on law and procedure, and providing whatever additional support the Senate requires.

The Republic of Palau is sovereign nation located in the Western Pacific. It is a former Trust Territory of the United States and has been independent since 1994. Its government consists of three branches: the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. The legislature, called the Olbiil Era Kelulau, is composed of an upper house (the Senate) and a lower house (the House of Delegates).
