    Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Grants Management Intern supports The Salvation Army National Headquarters’ Advancement team with grant management and the pursuit of new funding. Responsibilities include research of foundations, support in the development of funding proposals aligned with grantor priorities, and internal administration and tracking of pursuits. Additionally, responsibilities include supporting the management of existing grants through deliverable tracking and oversight of activities.

    Support the development of orientation materials for new grants.

    Organize reporting information and support the consolidation of information.

    Conduct research on potential grant opportunities and potential alignment with The Salvation Army priorities.

    Support the development of program descriptions and white papers for potential funders.

    Support the development of letters of inquiry and proposals, including strategizing approaches, development of budgets, and organization of supporting materials working with other Salvation Army staff.

    Participate in internal coordination meetings and capture key takeaways.

    Consolidate feedback and lessons learned from grant applications.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Support administrative functions, including ensuring all files are maintained in an organized and efficient manner.

    Participate in Salvation Army service projects & training opportunities.

    Demonstrate dependability through attendance and punctuality.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in an area related to philanthropy, inclusive but not limited to, nonprofit management, public relations, marketing, business administration, communications, psychology, sociology, journalism, or philanthropic studies.

    Previous experience working in a professional office setting preferred.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    None required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Proficiency with Office 365 suite and other collaboration tools.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

    Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to work within a team.

    Ability to handle confidential information.

    MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    Ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer.

    Ability to access and produce information from a laptop or desktop computer.

    Ability to understand written information.

    Ability to meet attendance requirements.

    Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

    Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple deadline projects at the same time with minimal supervision.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    This is an on-site position. Free underground parking and lunches offered.

    Internship duration: Sep 8 - Nov 21.
