Tell the Story Behind a Global Student Sustainability Campaign

Are you passionate about using digital storytelling to inspire action? Join us in driving a global campaign that mobilizes young people for climate justice, sustainability, and lasting change.

Turning Green is seeking a Social Media & Communications Support Intern to help share the story and expand the reach of Project Green Challenge (PGC) 2025. From creating engaging social content to building powerful digital campaigns, your work will support a transformative and dynamic student-led climate action movement, empowering changemakers around the world.

About Turning Green and PGC 2025

Turning Green is a global student-led movement committed to cultivating a healthy, just, and resilient planet through education and advocacy focused on climate justice, environmental sustainability, and public health. It equips students to lead change in their communities and beyond—mobilizing a generation to act with urgency, integrity, and purpose.

Project Green Challenge (PGC) is Turning Green’s flagship initiative—an annual 30-day global call to action that engages students in transformative daily challenges throughout October. The program builds knowledge, fosters agency, and inspires bold action on critical issues such as climate justice, ethical consumption, food systems, and public health. Since its launch in 2011, PGC has activated more than 342,000 students across 180+ countries and culminates in an in-person summit where finalists collaborate, lead, and scale their impact.

    What You’ll Do

As a Social Media & Communications support Intern, you’ll play a key role in crafting and delivering dynamic content while supporting the overall digital strategy for PGC 2025.

    In this role, you will:

    • Develop and manage strategic content calendars across the Turning Green website, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube, aligning with PGC 2025 milestones, daily challenge themes, and broader engagement goals
    • Create compelling multimedia content—including graphics, reels, carousels, short videos, and YouTube scripts—that reflect PGC’s mission and inspire action among a global student audience
    • Write and refine clear, mission-aligned copy for social posts, blog articles, and campaign messaging that amplifies youth leadership and sustainable solutions
    • Contribute to and help execute a broader communications strategy that weaves together social media, email outreach, partner engagement, and student storytelling
    • Draft and assist in designing communications materials such as outreach toolkits, media kits, speaker spotlights, and email newsletters
    • Monitor performance and engagement metrics using platform insights and basic analytics tools to assess what’s working, inform content choices, and adjust messaging as needed
    • Support real-time coverage and digital engagement during key campaign activations, finalist events, and other PGC moments
    • Maintain cohesive branding and tone across all channels by following internal style guides and ensuring quality control in visuals and copy

    Required Qualifications

    • Recent graduate (strongly preferred) or current undergraduate in communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts and creating content across multiple platforms (please include sample materials with your application)
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to voice, tone, and clarity
    • Proficiency with design and content tools such as Adobe Creative Suite
    • Familiarity with analytics and platform insights to track engagement and optimize content strategy
    • Excellent time management, project coordination, and communication skills
    • A strong passion for sustainability, youth empowerment, and mission-aligned digital storytelling
