This is a service-based AmeriCorps position. Members receive a living allowance, training, and a post-service education award upon successful completion.

YouthBuild Spokane is a Department of Labor–funded program serving young adults ages 16–24 who are working toward a GED or high school equivalency while building job-ready skills. The program blends academic instruction, vocational training, career readiness activities, and community service to prepare participants for employment or further education.

As a Pathways to Success Coach, this AmeriCorps member will serve alongside YouthBuild staff to provide academic and career-focused support. This includes one-on-one and small group GED tutoring, exam proctoring, and helping participants stay on track with education goals in partnership with Spokane Community College instructors. Members will also facilitate job readiness workshops covering resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, and workplace etiquette, and will aid in the facilitation of students completing the Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification.

Beyond the classroom, this member will connect students to career pathways by supporting employer meet-and-greets, mock interviews, and accompanying participants on tours of local businesses, training programs, apprenticeship sites, and postsecondary campuses. The role also includes coordinating and participating in civic engagement projects, national service days, and community events that promote leadership and teamwork.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about empowering young people, building relationships, and contributing to the development of a skilled, confident workforce in Spokane.
