    Description

    The Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association (SRNA) is seeking to hire a part-time Community Support Coordinator. This position is responsible for supporting and coordinating SRNA’s community support and volunteer network, projects, and events related to raising awareness, education, and furthering engagement both within and outside our community. The successful candidate will collaborate across the team to ensure the SRNA community receives meaningful information and support.

    The Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association (SRNA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the support of children, adolescents, and adults with rare neuroimmune disorders including: acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), acute flaccid myelitis (AFM), MOG antibody disease (MOGAD), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), optic neuritis (ON) and transverse myelitis (TM).Our stakeholders include individuals diagnosed with a rare neuroimmune disorder and their families/friends, clinicians, scientists, medical professionals, supporters, and related interested organizations. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of individuals and families living with these rare neuroimmune disorders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the first point of contact for people contacting the SRNA: to inform and offer resources related to education about the disease, its management, available treatments, support, and guidance.
    • Assist with coordination of SRNA’s support programs, volunteers, and community engagement. This involves day-to-day coordination with volunteers, training, and helping support group leaders and peer mentors with their meetings, and hosting online community meetings.
    • Learn in-depth about rare neuroimmune disorders and be familiar with the educational resources we offer
    • Connect community members with resources and information, and other members of the community
    • Assist with coordination of SRNA’s education and awareness events, including but not limited to our established Walk-Run-N-Roll’s, Quality of Life Camp, and Rare Neuroimmune Disorders Symposia (RNDS)
    • Represent SRNA at meetings and events, where possible, in person and via online meetings

    Experience and Qualifications

    While no one person will have all the qualities listed below, the successful candidate will bring many of the following qualifications and attributes:

    • A desire and ability to relate to and learn from the community of people and families affected by our rare disorders
    • Strong communication, listening, and writing skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, comparable experience in lieu of a degree
    • 3-5 years of experience in the field of community support/events management/health care preferred, 2 or more years’ experience working or volunteering in a non-profit environment required
    • Project management skills, including meticulous attention to accuracy and detail, the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines, and thrive in a small, dynamic organization with an ambitious agenda
    • Self-disciplined, driven, creative, able to demonstrate initiative, able to maintain confidentiality, attentive to details, persistent, with exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
    • Ability to work well within a virtual team environment
    • High standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, including dealing with sensitive and proprietary information
    • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing required; multilingual preferred
    • Technical proficiencies: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, project management software and CRM management databases

    Additional information

    • Location is where the Community Support Coordinator is based
    • Part-time position: 20-30 hours per week
    • Involves travel in the US 1-3 times a year
    • Requires some flexibility with some evenings and weekends

    Compensation

    Compensation commensurate with experience; retirement benefits offered. Salary range: $30,000 to $37,000
