    Summary:

    Centering client dignity and empowerment, Safe Horizon’s Research and Evaluation Team (R&E) focuses on advancing operational and programmatic excellence through supporting programs, operations departments, and the entire agency with evaluation strategies and quality improvement systems that are integrated into business as usual. Roles that the R&E team plays include but are not limited to providing programs and operations departments with technical assistance, thought partnership and project management on data collection, data systems, data analysis, business intelligence, reflective practice enhancement and program planning, project support, needs assessments, observation and analysis of practice, logic models and outcomes measurement.

    The Research & Evaluation Analyst reports to the Director of Research and Evaluation and collaborates with a team of approximately five Research and Evaluation staff. The Analyst works in collaboration with all Safe Horizon’s programs and operations teams to build, enhance, and evaluate our offerings. This role will include a focus on our Legal Services and Youth Homelessness programs and our Learning and Staff Development department with exposure to all issue areas Safe Horizon supports. Our work demands curiosity, creativity, humility, persistence and flexibility.

    Responsibilities:

    • Integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered, anti-oppressive approaches, into your work with collaborators, Safe Horizon staff and clients.
    • Lead and support a variety of quality improvement, evaluation, and research projects in collaboration with Safe Horizon Research & Evaluation team, Safe Horizon staff and clients.
    • Coordinate data quality and process improvement efforts in collaboration with our Information Systems and Technology application development team.
    • Set and maintain project timelines in coordination across Research and Evaluation team and agency. Actively communicate with teams and partners about challenges and progress.
    • Develop reports and give presentations of research updates and findings; prepare user friendly tables, figures, and charts.
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analyses containing confidential information.
    • Travel across NYC. Approximately 20% of the Analyst’s time is spent on site at Safe Horizon offices, program sites or partner agencies. Minimal (5% or less) time is spent working on weekends or evenings.

    Qualifications:

    • 1 year of experience supporting program evaluation and/or research required, preferably within a nonprofit, human service or government organization.
    • 1 year of experience working with underserved communities, preferably in the field of victim services.
    • 1 year of experience engaging with personal and professional anti-oppressive, anti-racist reflection and action.
    • A Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required if other qualifications met.

    • Excellent notetaking ability and organizational skills, including a strong attention to detail and ability to maintain timelines.
    • Ability to translate complex ideas into accessible presentations, graphics, and written products.
    • Familiarity with quantitative (primarily descriptive) and qualitative evaluation and research methods.
    • Strong digital literacy skills including ability to independently troubleshoot issues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
