    About Fiver Children’s Foundation

    The Fiver community includes 450+ youth from under-resourced communities in New York City and Central New York. Our 10-year program includes an award-winning summer camp and year-round support focused on social-emotional development, education, and career readiness.

    Position Overview

    Fiver seeks a strategic and passionate Director of Development to lead and expand fundraising efforts. With a $2.8M budget, this senior leadership role reports to the Executive Director and oversees a Development Manager and Associate. The Director will lead fundraising strategy, cultivate donors, manage events, and guide development communications while collaborating across departments and engaging with youth and supporters.

    Job Responsibilities

    Strategy Development

    • Design and execute the organization’s comprehensive fundraising strategy
    • Ensure fundraising efforts align with budget goals and are fiscally sound

    Individual and Corporate Donor Relations

    • Build and manage a strong base of individual donors
    • Cultivate major donors and corporate partners
    • Oversee donor stewardship to support retention and deepen engagement

    Event Planning and Management

    • Lead planning and execution of a $1M annual gala
    • Coordinate biannual donor cultivation events
    • Manage sponsors, honorees, and event consultants

    Board and Volunteer Engagement

    • Collaborate with the board to set and meet fundraising goals
    • Support board fundraising efforts and the board marketing committee
    • Manage the Fiver Advocates volunteer group
    • Organize volunteer opportunities and site visits for donors and partners

    Supervision and Leadership

    • Supervise and mentor development staff
    • Expand capacity through volunteer, intern, and pro bono support
    • Collaborate with leadership on strategic plan implementation and budgeting
    • Represent Fiver at external events and conferences

    Donor Communications and Data Management

    • Oversee use of Raiser’s Edge and ensure accurate gift processing
    • Develop and manage donor communications and appeal materials
    • Ensure consistent messaging across all fundraising functions

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a track record of success
    • Skilled in individual giving, special events, and donor engagement
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Familiarity with nonprofit budgeting and CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge)
    • Collaborative team player with leadership and supervisory experience
    • Passion for youth development and commitment to equity and inclusion
    • Willingness to work in-person at the NYC office 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and day of choice)
