    Description

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bangui, Central African Republic.

    As Expert Logistics in our Bangui Country Office, you will be responsible for the accurate implementation of logistic standards and all processes related to procurement & logistics according to internal Welthungerhilfe and donor regulations. You will be responsible for the professional execution of programme and project activities delegated by the management of the Country Office.

    Your responsibilities

    • Ensure strategic and timely planning of material resources and logistics support in collaboration with Project and Finance Team.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and regular update of country logistics strategies, procedures, and tools aligned with organizational and donor requirements.
    • Oversee and coordinate all local and international procurement activities in compliance with WHH procurement policies and donor rules.
    • Ensure procurement documentation is complete, traceable, and archived in accordance with WHH standards.
    • Support Projects in defining procurement needs, developing procurement plans, and monitoring budgets.
    • Supervise proper warehousing of goods, including inventory tracking, storage conditions, security, and timely distribution.
    • Ensure regular inventory checks and asset verifications, including handovers and write-offs as per WHH asset management policy.
    • Oversee the country fleet management including vehicle maintenance, planning, fuel monitoring, driver supervision, and movement tracking.
    • Ensure efficient transportation of goods and personnel while minimizing operational costs and risks.
    • Supervise, coach, and build the capacity of the logistics team across field offices, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
    • Lead performance management, skills development, and succession planning for logistics personnel.
    • Represent WHH in logistics and supply chain coordination platforms, including the logistics cluster and other relevant working groups.
    • Maintain active engagement with government authorities, customs, and logistics partners to ensure smooth importation and operations.
    • Ensure compliance with WHH and donor policies across all logistics operations.
    • Contribute to project reporting by providing timely logistics inputs (procurement status, fleet reports, stock reports, asset lists, etc.).
    • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely follow-up of logistics-related recommendations.

    Your profile

    • A university or college degree in logistics, development cooperation/humanitarian aid or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
    • At least 5 years of job related working experience (regional working experience is an asset)
    • Sound experience with planning and data collection methods
    • BMZ/EU donor experience would be an asset
    • Broad intercultural competence and ability to cope in a multinational team
    • Coordination and organizational skills – even under a high workload
    • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's programme countries
    • Excellent spoken and written French and English, knowledge of German would be an asset
