    Description

    Organization Description

LAAC is the statewide membership organization for legal aid nonprofits that provide free legal services to low-income people, seniors, and people with disabilities. LAAC serves its members by (i) engaging in strategic legislative and administrative advocacy; (ii) providing training in core substantive areas; and (iii) facilitating productive, interorganizational collaboration. As low-income people struggle with life issues, LAAC supports the legal safety net by working to secure funding, encouraging collaboration between organizations, and facilitating communication.

In addition to coordinating the work of civil legal nonprofits, LAAC also makes legal information available to the public. As the managing organization for LawHelpCA.org, the official statewide legal resource and referral website, LAAC plays a key role in connecting Californians with free, reliable legal resources and referrals. While we don’t provide direct services ourselves, we work with over one hundred legal aid organizations throughout the state who directly serve over 400,000 Californians every year.

We are committed to centering the experiences of historically marginalized groups in all aspects of our platform—from resource development and aggregation to user experience design. To achieve this, we strive to make sure that LawHelpCA is accessible, inclusive, and easy to navigate. The site supports screen-reader technology, offers content translated into multiple languages, and prioritizes the use of plain language so that individuals with limited formal education or limited English proficiency can understand and act on their legal rights. This approach reflects our broader mission to reduce systemic barriers and ensure that every Californian can access the legal help they need.

    Job Summary

The LawHelp Coordinator supports one of LAAC’s key programs, leading data analytics, research, outreach, file management, website updates, SEO infrastructure, grant projects, and overall administrative support. The Coordinator is a member of the LawHelp program team and works collaboratively with others and manage projects to ensure our flagship programs run smoothly.
