    Position Description

    The Annual Fund and Events Manager is a mission-driven team member who plays a key role in engaging and stewarding annual donors, and in designing thoughtful donor experiences through events and campaigns. As one of four staff in a growing development department, this position is responsible for managing the annual giving portfolio, prospect research and supporting moves management, and overseeing the planning and execution of donor events. We’re looking for an individual who brings creativity, strong relationship-building skills, and strategic thinking to help grow and deepen our base of support.

    Compensation

    • This position has a starting salary range of $78,374 to $96,758, for a four-day 32-hour work week, depending on experience and qualifications, as determined by CAF’s Compensation Philosophy Policy.
    • A 401K is offered, with a 5% employer contribution matched if employee contributes
    • Unlimited paid time off, mandatory four weeks off; paid parental leave; federally observed holidays
    • 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums, including dental and vision, with 50% coverage for dependents.

    Work schedule

    • A full-time work week at CAF is defined as a minimum of 32 hours over four days. This may change in the future.
    • Illinois residence is required by the start of employment. Work is partially remote.A minimum of 1 day in the office, preferably 2 days. The office is in the West Loop. This may change in the future.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Individual Giving & Annual Campaigns (approximately 40% of the position)

    • Develops, executes, and evaluates multi-channel annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, peer-to-peer, and digital strategies
    • Manages donor segmentation, testing, and performance analytics to increase donor retention
    • Oversees annual fund and monthly giving program strategy and stewardship
    • Supports Director of Development with prospect research and wealth-screenings on individuals as needed

    Event Strategy & Execution (approximately 25% of the position)

    • Plans and executes all fundraising and cultivation events (e.g., benefit, house parties, donor briefings), including logistics, managing vendor relationships, and run-of-show
    • Tracks event performance, ROI, and donor engagement outcomes

    Stewardship & Donor Experience (approximately 15% of the position)

    • Partners with Communications and Director of Development to create donor-centric appeals, acknowledgments, and engagement materials
    • Implements creative touchpoints and impact updates for annual donors and monthly donors, including the creation of annual impact report
    • Ensures the acknowledgement process runs smoothly and accurately (held by Development Coordinator)

    Collaboration & Reporting (approximately 15% of the position)

    • Collaborates with Development Coordinator on gift processing and database hygiene
    • Tracks campaign results and prepares reports for leadership
    • Works closely with Director of Development to support strategic revenue planning for annual fund

    Other

    (approximately 5% of the position)

    • Actively participate in required CAF meetings and respond in a timely manner to CAF staff communications
    • When required, participate in reproductive justice movement-building initiatives
    • Participate in and support an organizational culture that fosters deep collaboration, trust, and coordination across functional areas
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Commitment to reproductive justice and abortion access for all people
    • Knowledge of intersectionality and the impact that privilege and oppression can have on people’s ability to access abortion
    • Employs a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to policies, practices, and activities both internally and externally

    Experience

    • Five years of previous work experience raising funds from individual donors, preferably in the social justice sector
    • Previous experience overseeing and executing on special events, ability to manage logistics and budgets
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences
    • Experience producing and interpreting individual giving reports
    • Previous experience working with a CRM, entering data, producing queries, and reports
    • Possesses strong writing skills
    • Works flexibly, effectively manages ambiguity in a dynamic work environment
    • Works independently, self-motivated, juggles, prioritizes on their own
    • Performs under pressure, excellent time management, detail-oriented
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities
    • Comfortable and experienced with handling confidential donor information
    • Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptive, responsive, and able to make strategic decisions
    • Proficiency in Google Suite, social media, project management software, Slack

    • Some work at off-site locations may be required; CAF aims for accessibility in any off-site location that we have control of, but some of them may not be fully accessible

    • Evening and weekend work is rare, but sometimes required
