    Description

ABOUT LA VOICE: LA Voice is a multi-racial, multi-faith community organization that awakens people to their own power, training them to speak, act, and work together to transform our County into one that reflects the dignity of all people.

We believe all people have power and a voice. Every day we amplify that power by uniting diverse faith voices to stand-up for what their communities need, winning changes that improve the lives of all Angelenos. LA Voice’s organizing presence is based throughout LA County, across 5 county supervisorial districts and 28 strategic cities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will set the vision to grow LA Voice’s multiracial, multifaith base and power throughout Los Angeles County; cultivate an organizational culture rooted in care; foster partnerships with partners, funders, and movement allies; and work closely with the Boards of Directors to strengthen alignment and governance.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Develop, Execute & Champion a Vision for Deepening LA Voice’s Impact, Base & Power

    • Lead the creation and implementation of a bold vision that grows LA Voice’s base of congregations and community partners, deepens community power, and delivers material benefits in the lives of Los Angeles County residents.
    • Ensure long-term financial sustainability by aligning resources with mission-aligned priorities, increasing sustainable revenue from $3.5M to $5M by 2027, and diversifying funding streams.
    • Energize staff, boards, and community partners around the vision— fostering clarity, unity, and collective action toward shared goals.

Cultivate a Thriving Team & Culture Rooted in Excellence & Care

    • Manage and coach the senior leadership team to implement staff development initiatives, foster cross-team collaboration, and strengthen collaborative decision-making.
    • Foster a culture rooted in equity, care and belonging—where staff can thrive, sustain their well-being, and drive greater impact.

Foster Trusted Relationships with External Partners, Funders, & Movement Allies

    • Cultivate and sustain trust-based relationships with LA Voice’s diverse ecosystem—including the PICO California Network, congregations, clergy, community leaders, civic leaders, funders, and movement allies.
    • Serve as LA Voice’s chief ambassador, stewarding the organization’s presence across philanthropy, media, coalitions, and the broader movement ecosystem.

Partner with the Board to Strengthen Governance & Strategy

    • Collaborate closely with both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) Boards to strengthen alignment, encourage cross-board collaboration, and ensure cohesive governance, strategic direction, and financial sustainability.
    • Drive board engagement by recruiting diverse, mission-driven leaders, guiding strategic planning, and cultivating a culture of accountability and shared leadership.

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • YOU BELIEVE IN LA VOICE’S MISSION. You believe in LA Voice’s mission to transform LA county by building a multi-racial, multi-faith movement that awakens people to their own power, trains them to speak, act, and work together.
    • YOU ARE A STRATEGIC ORGANIZER. You bring deep experience in base-building and organizing, especially in multi-racial, faith-rooted, and community-led spaces. You develop leaders, build strong teams, and create real opportunities for others to lead. You know how to grow power by sharing it.
    • YOU ARE EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT. You listen with empathy and a coaching mindset, creating space for others to feel seen, heard, and supported in their growth. You navigate complexity with emotional awareness, building trust across lines of difference—race, faith, language, and class—with cultural humility.
    • YOU ARE POLITICALLY SAVVY AND BOLD. You understand complex power dynamics and act with confidence. You can read people, relationships, and systems well, knowing when to listen, when to push, and when to stand firm.
    • YOU ARE A CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATOR. You navigate cultural differences with intentionality, building trust across diverse communities. You adapt your communication style to foster inclusion, whether through language (such as bilingual English/Spanish skills), cultural awareness, or practices rooted in language justice.
    • YOU ARE A RESOURCE MOBILIZER. You understand that resourcing the work is a critical part of building collective power. You bring strategic clarity and confidence to fundraising, budgeting, and stewardship.
    • YOU ARE A SYSTEMS THINKER AND KNOWLEDGE STEWARD. You design and codify organizational systems that make knowledge accessible and sustainable — not dependent on any one person.
    • You Are An Adaptive Change Leader. You guide teams through moments of transition and crisis with clarity, transparency, care, and conviction. You name what's shifting, create space for processing, and help people move forward with purpose.
    • You Are A Big-Picture Thinker. You identify opportunities and threats through a comprehensive analysis of current and emerging trends in movement-building.
