    Description

    About TasselTurn

TasselTurn is an education and wellness platform and tech nonprofit that supports foster care-involved and housing-insecure youth in their journey to and through college. Through our app, students access academic coaching, track their emotional well-being, and get matched with counselors and colleges that are equipped to support their unique needs. This summer, we are expanding our presence in Illinois and North Carolina to build stronger partnerships with local schools, foster care agencies, and colleges.

    Role Overview

As an Outreach & Partnerships Associate, you will report to the Executive Director and you will play a critical role in growing TasselTurn’s footprint across your state. You’ll be responsible for identifying, contacting, and cultivating partnerships with schools, child welfare organizations, and colleges that serve foster and housing-insecure youth. This is a great opportunity for someone who believes in education equity, is community-minded, and enjoys building relationships that drive impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research and identify potential high school, child welfare, and college partners in IL or NC
    • Conduct cold and warm outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to introduce TasselTurn
    • Schedule and participate in introductory meetings with potential partners
    • Represent TasselTurn in community calls, virtual convenings, or in-person meetups (as available)
    • Maintain detailed notes of outreach activity in our tracking system
    • Provide weekly progress reports and insights to inform outreach strategy
    • Collaborate with the Marketing & Content Associate to align messaging and promotions

    Qualifications

    • Based in Illinois or North Carolina with knowledge of local education and/or child welfare landscape
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
    • Self-starter who is organized, persistent, and comfortable with outreach
    • Experience with CRMs, Airtable, or Google Workspace is a plus
    • Lived experience in foster care or related fields is welcomed but not required
    • Passion for education equity, youth development, or social impact work

    Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has professional experience working with high school students—as a teacher, counselor, or program coordinator—or has worked as a case manager, youth services provider, or advocate within the child welfare system. Familiarity with foster care, youth housing insecurity, and transition-age youth services is highly valued.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Direct experience contributing to a mission-driven tech organization
    • Coaching and mentorship from an experienced founder and leadership team
    • A chance to shape outreach strategy in a growing national initiative
    • Flexibility in working hours and autonomy in day-to-day planning
