    Description

    Who We Are

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) provides award-winning experiential social justice education and leadership development programs to nearly 700 young women and gender-expansive youth of color in New York City and Newark, NJ each year. Operating with love and rigor, we use the tools of popular education to build critical consciousness, community, and college readiness. Our programs include a nationally recognized six-week summer institute, in-school and after-school classes, college access and persistence support, and an advanced-level fellowship to design and implement an original social justice project. We strengthen, empower, and equip our participants to lead lives in committed pursuit of joy and liberation for self and community.

    About the Position

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) is seeking passionate and experienced Faculty to join our team across several programs. If you're dedicated to social justice, youth development, and creating transformative learning experiences, we encourage you to apply!

As a Faculty member, you'll play a vital role in our mission to empower young women and gender-expansive youth (referred to as "Nashers") in New York City and Newark, NJ. You'll facilitate engaging curricula, build strong relationships with participants, and support their growth in leadership, identity, and social justice.

    What You'll Do:

    • Facilitate Dynamic Learning: Lead workshops and discussions using a popular education approach, adapting curriculum to meet the needs of diverse youth (ages ranging from middle school to 22). Topics include identity, power, community, intersectional feminisms, and college readiness.
    • Mentor and Support Youth: Develop positive relationships, provide individualized guidance, and support participants with everything from social justice project development to college applications.
    • Program Management & Logistics: Manage class logistics, track attendance and progress, plan engaging field trips and events, and serve as a liaison between SNLP and teaching sites.
    • Collaborate & Grow: Work closely with staff to refine curriculum, reflect on program outcomes, and participate in regular professional development and supervision meetings.

    Our Programs:

You'll be contributing to one or more of our core programs, each designed to meet Nashers at different stages of their journey.

    • Siblinghood Academy: Community building, social justice & identity course for middle & high school youth. Programming occurs both at SNLP offices and at schools & community based organizations throughout NYC and Newark, NJ. Days & locations vary based on site.
    • ELLA Fellowship: A social justice fellowship for young adults (18-22) to develop and implement community change projects. The program meets in person on Saturdays once a month from October 2025 - May 2026 from 10:00 - 6:00 pm at both our NYC and Newark, NJ offices.
    • Leadership Scholars: Focuses on postsecondary planning, identity exploration, and self-advocacy for 10th and 11th graders. Programming occurs at both of our main offices in Newark, NJ and Manhattan. The program meets on Thursdays 4:30 - 6:30 pm from November 2025 - May 2026.
    • Nash U: Supports high school students and recent high school graduates through the college application process and career exploration and readiness. The program meets on Saturdays 10:30am - 1:00 pm from October 2025 - May 2026.

    We're Looking for Educators Who:

    • Have experience adapting curriculum and managing programming details
    • Are passionate about social justice and empowering women and gender expansive youth
    • Are available to teach in person during school hours, after-school, and some Saturdays
    • (Leadership Scholars and Nash U) Have at least 2 years of experience in college advising/counseling

    What else should you know:

Faculty are paid $100 per hour solely based on start and end times of the teaching assignment(s). Facilitation hours range from 1-4 hours/week depending on the site(s) assigned. Preparation for class is factored into the rate of facilitation pay and so therefore is not paid separately. Scheduled training for the role is paid at a flat rate based on the number of hours (typically paid at a rate of $20/hour).

Not sure you meet all of our qualifications? Research shows that cis men apply for jobs when they fulfill an average of 60% of the criteria, while others (including women, gender-expansive folks, and people of color) tend only to apply if they meet every requirement. If you believe that you are a good fit for this role, we encourage you to apply.

Sadie Nash Leadership Project is an Equal Opportunity Employer. As such, we consider a wide range of candidates bringing different skill sets and lived experiences. So whether you're looking to make a change, taking the next step in your career path, or returning to work after a gap in employment, we will be happy to have you apply!
