    Description

    Who We Are:

The CASH Coalition (Climate Action for Smallholders) is a bold collaborative initiative, working to help millions of smallholder farmers in the Global South transition to regenerative farming practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen livelihood resilience.

We are a Coalition of thirteen leading agricultural social enterprises with deep, trusted relationships in smallholder farming communities in over a dozen countries across four continents. We collaborate in developing a portfolio of scalable and profitable regenerative farming practices that are scientifically validated, financially viable, and measurably impactful for livelihoods and as climate solutions.

    The Role

This role is a unique opportunity to drive collective climate action at a global scale and directly impact millions of smallholder farmers. The Executive Director will co-create with high performing organizations and exceptional social entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of smallholder agriculture in the Global South. We're looking for the right person to join and lead our collective action, to inspire and support our mission and drive the next phase of our growth.

    Qualifications

You share our view that smallholder farmers have agency and that they want to manage their soils, lands and ecosystems in ways that also tackle climate change. You have a bias for action over talk. You are comfortable and flexible with complexity and changing circumstances. You are a strategic and innovative thinker who thrives in multi-stakeholder environments. You are enthusiastic about smallholder farmers, regenerative agriculture and most important, CASH's mission.

    You bring:

    • Lived experience working with smallholder farmers and local communities in one or more countries in the Global South.
    • A track record of facilitating collective decision-making and action in coalition-like settings.
    • Exceptional leadership and management skills to work with a diverse group of entrepreneurial leaders to build collaborative initiatives.
    • Demonstrated experience co-creating strategies that result in Coalition success.
    • Solid fundraising experience and the ability to work with diversified funding sources.
    • An understanding of regenerative farming practices, approaches to climate mitigation, soil health restoration, resilient livelihoods and the requirements to participate in voluntary carbon markets.
    • Experience with multiple types of farm finance - grants, debt, equity, blended, climate finance (carbon and non-carbon), that can support the scaling of small farm transitions to livelihoods based on regenerative farm practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and guide the Coalition in its next phase of growth for collective action.
    • Advance the Coalition's portfolio of farmer-centered projects to demonstrate the financial viability and climate impact of smallholder regenerative farming solutions.
    • Engage and collaborate with Coalition members to set organizational strategy and come up with collective activities that support our common aspiration.
    • Grow the scale and impact of the Coalition by identifying and bringing on new, aligned, high-impact organizations to enrich our collaboration.
    • Serve as the Coalition's primary external ambassador, cultivating relationships that bring funding and high-quality resources that spread CASH's mission.
    • Work closely with the Board and a global team to support the Coalition's efforts, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
    • Ensure the existing culture of trust building, peer leadership, innovation, and collaboration is reflected in the Coalition's evolving work and governance.

Educational Requirements: A graduate degree in Business, Agriculture, Public Policy, International Development, or Environmental/Climate Sciences.

Location: This is a full-time position and is fully remote. We will consider applicants from any location.

If you're motivated to build a high performing team, not a social club, and feel you're qualified, we'd love to hear from you about how you will make this critical work compelling, fun, and effective! https://cashcoalition.applicantpro.com/jobs/3797452
