    Job Description:

Love driving big trucks, staying active, and making a difference? Join our mission-driven team.

Are you someone who knows their way around a box truck, can safely haul furniture through NYC traffic, and doesn’t mind breaking a sweat for a good cause? We’re looking for a Driver to join our Housing Works Warehouse & Donations team — a key player in supporting our beloved thrift shops and life-saving mission.

This role isn’t just about getting from point A to B — it’s about moving with purpose. You'll be responsible for transporting donated items like furniture, housewares, and clothing to our stores, while representing Housing Works with care, safety, and great customer service.

    What You’ll Do

    • Load and unload donated items including furniture, household goods, and clothing — safely and efficiently
    • Drive and operate large box trucks across NYC and surrounding boroughs
    • Work closely with our dispatcher to coordinate pickups and deliveries for our thrift shops and warehouse
    • Inspect donations for quality and salability — you’ve got the eye
    • Take great care of our vehicles and equipment, performing daily maintenance checks as needed
    • Follow all company policies and procedures — from safe driving to respectful customer interaction
    • Report any incidents, accidents, or equipment issues promptly
    • Occasionally assist with other warehouse or shop tasks as needed

    What You Bring

    • Valid, clean NYS driver’s license (CDL a big plus)
    • Proven experience driving and maneuvering large moving trucks through tight NYC streets
    • Previous moving experience — especially handling heavy furniture and large items
    • Ability to lift and move up to 150 lbs with help (we’re a team!)
    • A flexible schedule — availability for some overtime and weekend shifts
    • Strong communication and time management skills
    • Ability to follow procedures, take direction, and stay on schedule
    • Comfort working with a diverse team and interacting with customers and donors respectfully
    • Familiarity with NYC geography and traffic patterns

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

    • Three healthcare plans to choose from — most of the cost is covered by us
    • Up to 30 days of paid time off in your first year (yes, really!)
    • Educational reimbursement benefits — use it for tuition, student loans, or textbooks
    • Make an impact every single day — every item you move supports our mission to end homelessness and HIV/AIDS
    • Be part of a team that values hard work, respect, and community
