    Description

    About REDF:

At REDF, we’re building an economy that works. For everyone.

We discover and back social entrepreneurs and leaders across the United States that employ people striving to overcome employment barriers like homelessness or incarceration.

These mission-driven businesses, called employment social enterprises, value the untapped talent in their communities for the strengths they hold, not the barriers they’ve faced.

That’s why REDF invests in their businesses, so we can help push their impact further, faster. We pair our grantmaking with capacity-building support, create space for employment social enterprise leaders to learn together, and sponsor state and federal policies that help shift perspectives. Because we believe that our economy works best when it works for everyone.

Since 1997, REDF has invested in over 350 social enterprises in 42 states and DC, which have generated over $3 billion in revenue and employed more than 150,000 people.

    The Role:

As Associate Director, Employee Experience and People Operations you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational management to recruit, develop and sustain a passionate, innovative and collaborative team of highly motived professionals. You will own the entire employee lifecycle with a strong focus on employee experience, operational efficiency, and culture-building. You will own, improve and optimize our core HR systems, including leveraging the analytics they enable. You'll partner closely with leadership to ensure our people strategies align with our business goals.

You will manage a team of two professionals -- a Senior Associate of Talent Management, and a Senior Manager of Performance Management and Professional Development -- providing vision, leadership, communication, and project management, and supporting their continuous development. At the same time, you will be a hands-on and tactical doer, capable of multi-tasking and rolling up your sleeves to deliver work across multiple priorities, on time and of high quality.

This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, strong analytical chops, and a familiarity with and proclivity for systems and operations. You’ll be responsible for partnering with REDF staff across the organization, leveraging deep knowledge of HR regulations and best practices, to champion culture and performance. You’ll provide incisive analytics to inform data-driven decision-making. You’ll be responsible for designing, managing, and integrating HR systems that support scalable operations, provide relevant and quality data, and improve the employee experience.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HR leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, systems and people – someone who wants to help build a future-forward organization grounded in purpose, equity and operational excellence.

    The Responsibilities:

    Strategy

    • Develop collaboratively and deliver upon a people strategy aligned with REDF business objectives and values
    • Partner with REDF leadership to drive talent acquisition (including outreach, recruiting and hiring decisions), people systems (including compensation and benefits), talent development (including training, rewards and recognition) and talent management (including performance management and employee relations)
    • Ensure REDF’s internal practices reflect our strategy, mission and values

    Employee Operations

    • Own and lead the entire people experience, including recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, compensation, benefits, and offboarding
    • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state and local labor regulations for remote, diffuse workforce
    • Develop and manage HR budgets, including identifying and assessing available resources for professional development and teambuilding purposes
    • Refine, execute and manage compensation and benefit programs that are competitive in the marketplace and that align with REDF’s strategy, values and culture. Own the relationship with our Professional Employer Organization and negotiate the terms. Make informed recommendations on salaries, promotions and other increases
    • Improve and execute talent acquisition processes that enable REDF to attract and source from a diverse, high-quality candidate pool; to evaluate fully and without bias, and to provide an outstanding candidate experience
    • Develop and execute a thoughtful and coordinated approach to professional development, aligning with the aspirations of our employees and business needs

    • Leverage data and analytics to monitor key people metrics, generate insights and inform decisions, including those around employee engagement, development and performance and organizational culture and health
    • Develop, analyze, revise and maintain HR policies, procedures and documentation

    Organizational Support

    • Create space for employee voice and shared ownership, partnering with staff to shape programs, policies and culture
