    Description

    Broad Street Love seeks a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our team as the Director of Development. The Director of Development is responsible for cultivation and solicitation of higher-level corporate and individual prospects: for creating and fulfilling personalized, end–to-end engagement plans and for managing programs that engage prospects at leadership giving levels. This position will report to the Chief Advancement Officer. Start date: Approximately October 8, 2025.

    Responsibilities:

    Corporate Giving

    • Develop and execute end-to-end cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy for corporate giving opportunities, including signature support circle and Kitchen Takeover series.
    • Develop and maintain corporate giving portfolio (50-75 prospects) and secure revenue target averaging approximately $300,000 annually.
    • Chief Advancement Officer to identify and pursue cultivation strategies consistent with overall institutional and advancement strategy.
    • Conduct research and networking to support prospect development. Analyze and monitor giving trends, philanthropic priorities, and funding cycles to identify emerging opportunities and adjust strategies to maintain alignment with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate across departments to leverage corporate relationships for broader partnership opportunities or convert into philanthropic revenue.

    Individual and “Connector” Giving

    • Maintain a portfolio of 25-50 individual prospects capable of giving leadership-level annual support.
    • Strategize relationship management of other unique prospect types, such as giving circles, in-kind donor prospects.
    • As manager to Volunteer Coordinator, play an active and visible role in volunteer relations.

    Gala (Be Our Guest) and Signature Events

    • Create and execute strategy for annual Be Our Guest gala: sponsorship, table, ticket, and night-of giving opportunities, securing revenue target averaging $200,000+.
    • Manage contract staff, volunteers, in-kind partners and contributions supporting the event.
    • Create and execute annual engagement events for corporate and public groups, including corporate networking event and annual open house.

    Supervision: Volunteer Coordinator

    • Set goals and manage workflow of Volunteer Coordinator.
    • Oversee strategies for linking volunteer experience/ program with philanthropic engagement opportunities and converting volunteer relationships to philanthropic giving.

    Other

    • Play an active role in identifying topics and content for BSL communications strategy; where fitting, participate in development of stories for blog, social media, and other donor communications (such as donor testimonials, recognition, marketing materials for giving programs, etc.).

    Qualifications and desired professional:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
      • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including solid track record of portfolio management, and closing and stewarding 4-5 figure gifts.
      • Demonstrates a spirit of curiosity and innovation, and possesses the ability to plan, and project manage, and balance competing priorities.
      • Embraces challenges and problem-solves; possesses a tenacity to make the most of donor engagement opportunities.
      • Ability to set clear expectations and hold staff accountable.
      • High level of professionalism, with the ability to uphold the integrity of the BSL mission, staff, and leadership in internal and external relationships.
      • Excellent written and verbal skills that reflect the tone and values of Broad Street Love’s mission and brand.
      • Commitment to, and thoughtful implementation of, the mission of Broad Street Love.
      • Data-integrated approach to donor engagement strategies: track and report key performance metrics.
      • Active engagement of centralized Advancement team organizational systems (esp. prospect & moves management, solicitation plans through Raiser’s Edge), and adherence to department data management protocol to advance coordinated prospect relationship management, revenue reporting, and fundraising projections.
