    Salary: $55,000-$60,000

    Position Summary: The Development Associate supports fundraising operations and projects and is responsible for data management in our Raiser’s Edge database and online CRM through gift processing, data entry, data clean-up, acknowledgment letters, document scanning and filing, as well as associated donor communication and follow-up. Working closely with the Director and Associate Director of Operations, as well as the Database Manager, this individual will have knowledge of Development team objectives, goals, systems, and processes. This position reports to our Harlem headquarters 5 days a week.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process all gifts (pledges, checks, online donations, wires, stock, etc.) daily and in a timely, accurate manner, inclusive of fiscal reconciliation and daily booking reports, and work cross-divisionally to ensure accurate processing.
    • Produce timely acknowledgment letters to donors within 48 hours of receipt of donation.
    • Maintain our electronic flies, including scanning and filing acknowledgment letters and gift receipts, check copies, and source documents daily.
    • Partner with Director of Development Operations to reconcile monthly gifts and pledge information with both Development and Fiscal and provide necessary information for annual audits.
    • Ensure the daily preparation, fund coding, and delivery of checks to Fiscal.
    • Run daily and weekly reports and queries to ensure integrity and accuracy of all gift entry; to analyze direct mail campaigns; and for donor analysis and graph development to assist in identification of trends and assessments as requested both by: 1) donors (e.g., foundations, corporations, etc.) and the 2) the Development team in support of strategy analysis and recommendations for annual planning donors.
    • Complete donor outreach, including thank you calls and follow-up emails.
    • Partner with the Database Manager to ensure the accuracy of donor data, including creating and maintaining records across all systems, processing returned mail, and other ongoing clean-up projects.
    • Partner with the Associate Director of Development Operations to advance data strategy and coding.
    • Expand and manage the Double the Donation platform to maximize matching gift revenue opportunities.
    • Liaise with outside vendors proactively to troubleshoot database challenges, as needed.
    • Support the Operations team and full Development team through donor research, data entry, database clean-up, Event preparation and support, email management, Raiser’s Edge queries, etc., as assigned
    • Expected to work all major events, including but not limited to our annual Benefit and Golf Classic
    • Assist and advise in the creation and maintenance of Raiser’s Edge NXT policies and procedures.
    • Perform additional job-related projects and responsibilities as assigned, with encouragement for continued growth and learning within the team.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Fundraising database experience preferred.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required.
    • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills and the ability to take ownership of projects, manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines.
    • Professional presentation, inclusive of a thoughtful and concise writing style, with the ability to nuance language to donors about the agency, its programs, and outcomes.
    • Respect for and ability to maintain privacy, confidentiality, and discretion.
    • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Mail Merge.
