    Description

    Communications • Full Time • Remote / Occasional Travel • Salary $50,000 - $70,000

    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Greenlight America is building a scalable, nationwide model for engaging and mobilizing local residents in support of clean energy projects. We aspire to be the leading grassroots campaign force powering the clean energy transition in terms of steel in the ground, with the result that more clean power projects win local siting and permitting approval more quickly, contributing to an overall environment where the U.S. exceeds our clean energy generation and transmission goals for the next decade.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

The Communications Associate plays a key role in supporting Greenlight America’s communications and campaign work, providing online research and creating content both on assigned campaigns and across the organization’s communications and messaging priorities. A successful candidate for this position will be a skilled writer and researcher with the demonstrated capacity to produce quality work on deadline. They will also have the ability to get up to speed quickly on complex topics, be highly creative and willing to take risks, and exhibit strong skills in project management. The position is remote and reports to the Communications and Digital Manager for the Associate’s assigned campaign regions.

    PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Produce social listening reports at the start of all Greenlight clean energy campaigns, reviewing local news coverage and social media activity to assess public sentiment and shape campaign messaging priorities around a proposed project, ordinance, or technology in a given community or area.
    • Support on the creation of communications materials for other Greenlight clean energy campaigns as assigned (likely in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with other states possible, based on capacity needs), working closely with other members of the communications and campaigns teams to execute a messaging and content strategy for each campaign. Materials produced may include talking points, fact sheets, letters to the editors, op-eds, digital content, social media posts, one-pagers, and presentations.
    • Support on the creation of general volunteer guides and resources and other organization-wide “evergreen” messaging materials, including research and drafting.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

    • Experience developing content and/or messaging on deadline. Strong candidates for this role may also have backgrounds in journalism, community organizing, campaigning, clean energy development, or similar.
    • Strong research and written communications skills.
    • Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition.
    • Experience in social media analysis and news monitoring is a plus.
    • Candidates in Eastern or Central time zones preferred due to the collaboration needs and media monitoring schedule of our campaigns in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. However, we welcome applicants from all U.S. locations.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base annual salary for this position is $50,000-$70,000. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.

    TO APPLY

    • Use this link to submit a resume and responses to the provided questions in lieu of a cover letter.
    • If you require accommodations so that you may participate in the selection process, please email accommodations@greenlightamerica.org.
    • First round interviews will begin in the second half of August, with a hiring decision to be made by the end of September.

Due to the volume of applicants, we will only contact applicants whose skill sets and experience meet our needs.
