    Salary Range: $60,000–$65,000

As we expand our reach, we’re looking for a Development Manager to help build sustainable fundraising systems, engage donors, and fuel the next phase of our work.

    Position Summary

    The Development Manager will support and help implement Health in the Hood’s fundraising strategy across donor engagement, events, and corporate partnerships, while also bringing new ideas and initiative to the table. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role ideal for someone eager to take ownership of core development functions and help build strong systems in collaboration with the executive team.

    The ideal candidate will bring creativity, initiative, and relationship-building skills to help us engage long-time supporters, reach new donors, and inspire community investment in every corner of our work. This role will collaborate closely with the leadership to support outreach to major donors and partners, providing research, materials, and coordination that deepen key relationships and drive revenue growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising Execution & Donor Engagement

    • Help implement and track an annual fundraising plan, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, online campaigns, and in-person events
    • Support creative donor engagement strategies, including third-party fundraising opportunities, and test new approaches to donor and community engagement
    • Proactively identify and engage individual and corporate donors
    • Maintain personal, thoughtful stewardship through thank-you notes, calls, and impact updates
    • Develop tailored outreach strategies for donor segments and lapsed supporters
    • Track donor activity and support the development and use of pipelines in our CRM system

    Event Planning & Community Activation

    • Plan and execute dynamic fundraising events, including (but not limited to) volunteer days, donor appreciation gatherings, corporate partner activations, and third-party fundraisers.
    • Coordinate corporate and community partner events that generate sponsorships, matching gifts, or direct contributions
    • Secure and manage sponsorships, in-kind donations, and vendor/partner support
    • Serve as a public-facing representative of Health in the Hood at events and campaign activations

    Communications & Campaign Coordination

    • Develop and coordinate messaging for fundraising initiatives in collaboration with staff and contractors
    • Draft donor communications (appeals, impact updates, campaign messaging)
    • Oversee the development of campaign materials (e.g., flyers, digital content, signage) in collaboration with staff, contractors, and board members
    • Manage fundraising-related social media content for events, campaigns, and on-going donor engagement
    • Ensure all donor-facing communications reflect our brand voice, values, and community impact
    • Manage online fundraising tools and ensure donation pages are current and functional, in addition to seeking new opportunities

    Internal Collaboration & Systems Building

    • Collaborate with the Executive Team to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals
    • Work with program staff to gather impact stories, data and content for donor communications
    • Support the coordination of development committee activities and board fundraising efforts (if applicable)
    • Help shape and implement internal systems for donor management, including CRM use, donation tracking, and reporting
    • Collaborate with the Program Director to build a pipeline between corporate volunteers and donors, fostering long-term engagement through strategic cross-over opportunities.

    Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with emphasis on donor engagement, campaigns, or event-based fundraising
    • Experience planning donor-facing or community-centered events
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
    • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple timelines and collaborators
    • Creative and resourceful, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative
    • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
    • Comfortable using digital tools for collaboration, communication, and donor engagement such as Microsoft 365, Mailchimp, Canva, and Asana,
    • Open to learning and helping implement CRM systems currently being developed
    • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
    • Familiarity with the philanthropic landscape in South Florida (preferred)
    • Passion for food security, nutrition equity, public health, or community wellness (preferred)
