    Position Overview

    The Outreach Manager is responsible for managing community engagement efforts related to LtL’s educational programs and purpose, with the goal of building the organization’s network of supporters. This position manages all aspects of in-person community engagement events, including marketing and communications, securing local business sponsorships, and coordinating volunteers and interns. This position manages online fundraising campaigns and takes a lead role in planning special events with the Board of Directors’ Events Committee. The Outreach Manager reports to LtL’s Executive Director, and also works with LtL’s education/program staff. This position requires travel to programmatic sites and consistent engagement with community stakeholders, including some evening and weekend events.

    Community Engagement

    • Work with the ED to develop outreach strategies with the goal of increasing LtL’s network of supporters
    • Identify and manage various opportunities to engage with the public in each of the 3 cities where LtL serves, focused on in-person public events, including coordination of messaging/activities, materials, and staffing
    • Maintain existing and build new partnerships and collaborations that foster community engagement efforts
    • Solicit business sponsorships to support community engagement work
    • Co-lead and coordinate 3 to 5 in-person fundraising and friendraising events per year, in collaboration with the Board of Directors and ED
    • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers and interns, including management of volunteer database, and coordination with other staff to assign volunteer tasks (Land to Learn does not have a large volunteer base; the Outreach Manager will be responsible for growing it!)

    Marketing & Communications

    • Manage online and direct mail fundraising campaigns (2 per year)
    • Create content and strategy for public communication in:
      • Monthly newsletters
      • Social media
      • Annual Reports
      • Event & program flyers
      • Promotional postcards and brochures
      • Website
    • Supervise LtL’s social media coordinator
    • Co-create and co-manage individual donor communications timelines, calendars, and records, in collaboration with the ED (using Bloomerang donor management software and Asana project management software)

    Required skills

    • At least 2 years experience in fundraising and/or outreach with nonprofits
    • Enthusiasm, interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in engaging with the public during in-person events
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Design and content creation experience and/or proven skills
    • Creative problem solver who pays careful attention to detail
    • Self-driven, collaborative team player with respect and desire for independent work
    • Well organized and deadline-driven with a knack for project management
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace
    • Proficiency in or working knowledge of Canva and/or digital design
    • Proficiency in or working knowledge of Bloomerang or similar donor management software
    • Commitment to work equitably and inclusively with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds including: race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, class and religion, etc.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

    An ideal candidate would have:

    • 3-4 years experience with individual giving and/or outreach
    • Familiarity with work related to food and/or education and/or agriculture

    Compensation, Benefits, Growth Opportunity

    • Full time position (40hr/week) with annual salary of $55,000
    • Option to join a health insurance plan for which LtL covers a portion of monthly premiums
    • Paid Time Off: 80 hours vacation for 1st year of employment (increases over time); 104 hours sick/personal; 18 days holiday, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day; half day summer Fridays in July & August
    • Travel stipend to cover mileage between work sites within the work day
    • The Outreach Manager will have the opportunity to shape and expand their role as they help grow Land to Learn’s network of support. As the organization’s outreach efforts evolve, so will the responsibilities of this position, ideally increasing in scope and impact in step with the work. This is a growth-oriented role, well-suited for someone who is excited to build both LtL’s community and their own professional path.
