    Position Summary

    JVS, an Essex County based workforce development non-profit with a budget of $10m and a staff of 60 is seeking a Chief Development Officer to lead and expand its fundraising efforts, including managing individual, corporate, and institutional giving. This role reports to the CEO and is integral in shaping fundraising strategy and organizational development.

      Fundraising leadership and strategy: The Chief Development Officer will develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy encompassing major gifts, events, sponsorships, government, and foundation funding, while managing donor portfolios and overseeing grant submissions.

        Team and stakeholder management: Responsibilities include managing the Development Associate, coordinating with the CEO and Board on fundraising efforts, leading the Development Committee, and collaborating across programs to maximize fundraising potential.

        Essential Functions

        • Develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy which includes income from major gifts, special events, corporate sponsorships, government entities, and foundations.
        • Create strategies to expand and diversify individual and corporate donors.
        • Solicit and steward a portfolio of donors, especially individuals, who have the potential for increased giving to JVS.
        • Support the work of the Chief Executive Officer and JVS Board in fundraising and stewardship efforts.
        • Employ Business Intelligence to analyze funding trends, donor behavior and grant data to help JVS identity the most promising future grant opportunities.
        • Oversee Grant Committee including development of annual calendar of grant submissions.
        • Create and implement the Annual Giving campaign(s).
        • Manage the annual fundraising goal and provide timely updates on the status throughout the fiscal year.
        • Manage Development Associate who supports Development as well as marketing efforts.
        • Oversee JVS donor database (DonorPerfect) to ensure that gift recording and acknowledgements are done efficiently and in a timely manner. In particular, ensuring up-to-date information on tracking against annual fundraising goals.
        • Manage and oversee all fundraising Special Events, including an annual event, and cultivation opportunities.
        • Collaborate with JVS program colleagues on fundraising potential based on program-related impact.
        • Work closely with CEO in production and execution of Board communications.
        • Coordinate Board Development Committee, including creation of agenda and materials in advance of meetings.
        • Oversee creation of donor acknowledgement materials and donor listings. Updating and ensuring accuracy of these lists is of primary importance.
        • Manage Development Department budget, including tracking of expenses and requirements associated with revenue allocation and budgeting.
        • Work with team members on wealth-screening projects, analyze results and integrate into prospect pipeline.
        • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
