    The Opportunity

    Children’s Village is a high-quality, nationally accredited non-profit child care center located on the edge of Philadelphia’s Chinatown community. We provide year-round Early Childhood Education to children ages 6 weeks- 5 years old and Out of School Time programming for school age children in grades K – 7th. Each weekday, we serve approximately 400 students in our 6 Floor building.

    We seeking a highly organized, analytical, and motivated Development Assistant to fill a full-time position to support our fundraising, donor engagement, and communications efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development and working with Children’s Village’s administrative team, the Development Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing Children’s Village’s mission by strengthening the overall capacity and efficiency of the Development office.

    Position Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities include managing donor stewardship and gift acknowledgment, maintaining the donor database, assisting with the development of fundraising campaigns and special events, and supporting grant submissions. In specific this position will:

    • Develop and manage content for Children’s Village’s website and social media platforms while also supporting donor engagement through email campaigns, appeal mailings, and newsletters.
    • Actively participate in the implementation of fundraising campaigns and events, collaborating across multiple departments, as well as with alumni and external vendors, to meet goals, timelines, and fundraising targets.
    • Ensure timely and accurate gift processing and acknowledgment, maintaining donor data integrity in Children’s Village’s donor management software (Frontstream/Giftworks).
    • Conduct prospect research and support the drafting and submission of grant proposals, sponsorship applications, and required reporting.
    • Participate in activities that support Board members’ fundraising efforts including participating in the Board of Director’s Development Committee meetings.
    • Coordinate and support volunteer events, donor tours, and external engagement opportunities
    • Support Children’s Village’s organizational culture of being an inclusive, collaborative community that celebrates diversity and empowers children and families.
    • Participate in center-wide events such as in-service trainings, fire and safety drills, and full staff meetings.

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree plus 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or 4 year degree in a related field.
    • Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of individuals.
    • Highly organized with strong project management skills.
    • Experience working with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mail Chimp, design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva and website platforms such as Word Press or Squarespace a plus.

    Position Details and Benefits

    • This position reports to and works closely with Children’s Village’s Director of Development.
    • This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
    • Some evening hours may be required to attend/facilitate events.
    • Position includes paid sick and vacation hours.
    • Position also includes health benefits (employee does contribute a percentage of the premium.)
    • Salary range: $45,000-$50,000 based on experience.

    Important Note: Children’s Village is a DHS regulated child care center. All employees must obtain state and federal clearances, and complete required health and safety trainings. Children’s Village will assist employees with obtaining these. Upon hiring, Children’s Village will also assist new employees to complete a health screening & TB testing, as well as a drug and alcohol screening.
