    Description

    Founded in 2009, PASO – West Suburban Action Project (Proyecto de Acción de los Suburbios del Oeste), is a community-based social justice organization based in Melrose Park that fights for immigrant rights in west suburban Cook County and other collar counties. PASO serves the immigrant community by addressing both the immediate needs through direct services, educational workshops, referrals and the leadership skills of the immigrant community so they can organize, create opportunities and exercise their collective power. In this past year, PASO has also relaunched its legal department given the significant need from immigrant communities in the western suburbs.

    PASO is looking for a systems oriented, adaptable operations associate to support the Executive Director in building, implementing and maintaining day to day administrative and operations systems. The ideal candidate is someone who has a deep belief in the importance of community work, fluent in Spanish and the context of the local communities, and brings past operations experience to a growing organization.

    This position is in person and based in Melrose Park, Illinois.

    Reports to: Executive Director

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversees the daily administrative operations such as managing office supplies, coordinating schedules, and handling mail
    • Handles accounts payable and receivables: including invoices, payment processing, record keeping, reconciliation, compliance and reporting.
    • Maintains the organization’s financial records through Quickbooks, including classification of expenses and project budget management
    • Updates payroll systems through Paychex; including tracking time sheets/benefits and producing reports
    • Communicates with external vendors and building management
    • Maintains employee records and paperwork

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and power building with immigrant communities
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Minimum bachelor’s degree or four years of work experience in administrative or operations
    • Culturally competent and thrives at working in diverse workplaces
    • Experience with nonprofit financial & accounting systems like Paychex, Quickbooks. Able to read a budget
    • Ability to stay organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Tech savvy and proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft applications

    COMPENSATION:

    Salary of $45,000 annually and benefits include 100% employee coverage of medical, dental and vision insurance. Cell phone and mileage reimbursement. Generous time off and flexibility.
