    Description

    General Description

    The National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) is a nationwide membership organization of oral health professionals and other supporters seeking to improve access to care for patients in federally qualified health centers and other safety net systems.

    The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial and accounting systems, including day-to-day management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grant-related financial tracking. This role involves regular communication with staff across all departments, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This position reports to the Finance Director, and works closely with all program staff, to ensure that all duties in the finance and accounting department are accomplished in a timely, accurate and well-documented manner. This job works remotely, and relocation is not required.

    This position is currently part-time (15 hours per week, 0.375 FTE), with the potential for additional hours depending on workload, funding, and organizational growth.

    Areas of Responsibility

    • Maintain a thorough record of all NNOHA financial/accounting systems including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and financial grants management.
    • Manage bill pay and credit card workflow for NNOHA, including tracking and recording of expenditures and payments to vendors through NNOHA’s bill payment systems.
    • Process invoices and incoming payments in compliance with NNOHA’s financial policies and procedures.
    • Oversee vendor W9 and 1099 processes and reporting.
    • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports for all grants and funding sources; monitor monthly variance items for each grant or funding source and distribute reports to Leadership Team including the Staff Program, Finance Director, Executive Director, and Finance Committee.
    • Process bi-monthly 403b contributions and provide year end census/payroll information to the plan administrator for form 5500.
    • Assist with development of the annual operating budget in collaboration with program staff and leadership, and support financial aspects of grants including HRSA, GT, CQP, ARCORA, and NOHLI.
    • Coordinate external audit preparation and collaborate with auditors on annual audit and IRS Form 990.
    • Maintains systems to track employee working time, vacation, and sick leave.
    • Manage the benefit enrollment process, ensuring employee records are maintained and updated.
    • Monthly meetings with a board member to review/present the cash account reconciliations.
    • Support additional projects as needed.

    The NNOHA Annual Conference and Events

    • The Senior Accountant will be requested to attend two NNOHA meetings per year, one in the spring and one in the fall, at NNOHA’s expense. Locations vary each year. The Senior Accountant will need to make the necessary personal arrangements to enable travel.
    • Assist with the registration conference for financial reconciliation.
    • Attends the Annual Conference and provides on-site services (will require weekend work and long hours during the week of the Conference, usually in November)
    • Participate in the annual NNOHA board retreat and staff retreats in the Spring of each year.

    Work Environment

    • The Senior Accountant will work remotely and is not required to relocate. NNOHA staff meet regularly through electronic platforms with each other and with NNOHA committees and other members.
    • NNOHA provides a stipend, in addition to the salary, to reimburse staff for maintaining internet and cellular phone access.
    • The Senior Accountant will be allowed to create a flexible schedule with prior approval from the Executive Director.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting and/or Business Administration
    • Experience with nonprofit accounting.
    • Knowledge and proficiency with general ledger, financial software, financial statements, reconciliations, budgets, audits, and private/government grant reporting.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience with Salesforce preferred.
    • Salesforce, Cvent, Stripe, and NetSuite mastery preferred.
    • High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
    • Ability to work independently and remotely.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Senior Accountant is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
