JOB SUMMARY:
This position will primarily assist the General Counsel with conducting legal research, assisting with contracts, assisting with internal national minutes/policies and resource center case files, reviewing and editing legal documents, and assisting with service mark applications and cease and desist letters, as well as handling some administrative duties.
Conducts substantive and expansive legal research using Lexis Nexis.
Researches and reviews internal legal case files and policies contained in the Resource Center.
Assists legal intake meetings with NHQ Staff and Officers.
Assists with trademark applications, and cease and desist letters regarding violations of The Salvation Army’s trademarks.
Assists with contracts, agreements, and MOUs.
Reviews and edits legal documents, including agreements and contracts.
Reviews legal opinion letters.
Assists with the Legal Commission bi-annual meetings.
Assists with legal training workshops and other special projects.
Attends meetings with Officers and staff members, and facilitates communication with the departments and sections of National Headquarters.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Some administrative job duties such as coordinating conference calls, photocopying and scanning documents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.A degree from an accredited college or university in a related field;
And
Demonstrated interest in the legal profession.
And
Enrollment in law school or a legal studies program preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Enrollment in law school or a legal studies program preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience,
Knowledge of the structure contact of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Demonstrates attention to detail.
Knowledge of Word and Microsoft office suite.
