    ICTJ is searching for a Programs Writer to join the program team.

    PROGRAMS WRITER

    The Programs Writer plays a critical role in the operations of the program department. This includes preparing key ICTJ documents such as concept notes, grant proposals, donor and institutional reports, and more. The Programs Writer contributes to the conceptualization and leads the production of these documents while also drafting technical, substantive, and programmatic content.

    Liaising proactively and working closely with program team staff and other relevant ICTJ departments (Communications, Development, Finance, etc.), the Programs Writer works to ensure optimal quality, workflow, collaboration, and efficiency of the program department, meet deadlines, and safeguard the sturdiest representation of ICTJ.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY

    Under the general supervision and guidance of the Director of Programs, indicative tasks of the Programs Writer will include:

    • Contribute to the conceptualization, writing, drafting, and reviewing of concept notes, grant proposals, grant reports, and other programmatic documents, written products, and messaging, providing substantive inputs and specific content related to ICTJ’s programmatic work.
    • Synthesize complex and diverse information through collection and data research; ensure inclusion and mainstreaming of ICTJ policies on gender, conflict-sensitivity, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the grant and report writing process. Guarantee the alignment of the final product with ICTJ’s results framework and the donor’s requirements.
    • Manage the preparation and revision of program inputs and supplemental materials for grant proposals and reports with program and DME staff; coordinate with the Development Department to ensure alignment with donor requirements and priorities; coordinate with the Finance Department to review grant budgets and financial reports for accuracy and consistency with narrative proposals and reports.
    • Lead preparation, coordination, writing, reviewing, and finalization of ICTJ’s Annual Core Donor Report, closely collaborating with Development and DME staff.
    • Manage the review and finalization process of Annual Work Plans by programs.
    • Keep updated and well-informed on all facets of ICTJ’s work to identify linkages between institutional objectives and achievements with donors’ interests and priorities and to promote coordination across program department staff and offices.
    • Follow relevant social, political, and legal news that are essential for the developments of proposals, reports, and other programmatic documents.
    • Coordinate with the Programs Coordinator and other program experts and staff to catalogue and manage institutional knowledge, learnings, and products.
    • Prioritize tasks to keep multiple projects and priorities moving in a timely manner.
    • Contribute to promoting ICTJ’s mission and vision advancing the strategic goals and outcomes of the organization.
    • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for internally and externally disseminating ICTJ’s impact and advancing ICTJ’s policy goals.
    • Promote internal coordination and maintain control systems to ensure that his/her performance meets the organizational standards of quality, timeliness, accuracy, consistency, independence, and impartiality.
    • Ensure timely reporting against key performance indicators of the organization.
    • Contribute to ICTJ’s overall work and any other task required as a team player with professionalism, integrity, and commitment, inspiring and motivating both internal and external stakeholders.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university

    Experience: Three or more years of experience in a relevant field such as Law, International Relations, or Political Science and in the human rights field.

    Related Skills and Knowledge:

    • Familiarity with donors and donor reporting requirements.
    • Fluency in substantive and technical language on transitional justice.
    • Understanding of logical frameworks and project cycles.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
    • Demonstrated rigorous attention to detail.
    • Positive, proactive, collaborative attitude
    • Strong organizational skills along with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
    • Excellent oral communication in English and superior writing skills.
    • Strong competency in a second language, especially French or Spanish, is strongly desirable.
    • Experience in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Flexibility and a commitment to teamwork.
    • Identification with ICTJ’s mission.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to write clear reports.
    • Ability to explain highly technical results to non-technical audiences.
