    Description

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    The Food Services Associate performs functions related to food production, food dissemination, and the safety and sanitation of food handling operations. These functions include, but are not limited to, ordering food, managing food inventory, controlling portions, operating equipment, washing and sanitizing dishware, and ensuring the department's compliance with the food code.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will be willing to become familiar with the National School Lunch Program and adhere to its requirements, policies, and procedures. Responsible for creating menus and entering them into our portal system; preparing, cooking, and storing food according to health department regulations; serving food; and cleaning the food prep area. Prepares and cooks large quantities of food in a school cafeteria setting. Oversees the work of subordinates in preparing menu items, such as soups, meats, vegetables, fruits, and salad bar for consumption through the use of cafeteria equipment and cooking/baking processes.

    Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation. Works with the Food Service Supervisor to implement NSLP (National School Lunch Program) compliant menus (breakfast, lunch & snack).

    KNOWLEDGES / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

    Preferred - High school diploma. Two years of experience in food service, knowledge of the National School Breakfast and Lunch program.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum two years of experience
    • SAFESERVE Certification
    • Federal & Pennsylvania Criminal Background & Child Abuse Clearances
