    Description

    This is a part-time (PT) position of 25 hours per week with the potential to expand to a full-time position, up to 35 hours per week, in the next few months as the organization grows. Benefits are available. Our expansion is underway, and you can help us!

    Childhood Education International (CE International) is a nonprofit global consulting service organization which provides support to NGOs, government ministries and other entities who wish to design and deliver care and education services for young children. We specialize in the early years, pre-primary and primary aged children.

    We are seeking an experienced Communications Director who can formulate and implement communications strategies in a non-profit consulting service environment and has experience in communicating about international development and/or global education issues.

    This position is for WASHINGTON DC or NEW YORK AREA CANDIDATES ONLY.

    • Some experience in communicating about children’s issues around the world, their education and well- being.

    Position Description

    Planning

    1. Strategize and lead the development of communications plans and other plans that relate to communications such as partnership communication planning and client engagement.

    Effective Engagement

    1. Support the work of CE International through the development of exciting campaigns, engaging messaging and interesting storylines. (Use campaigns to help CE International reach donors)
    2. Use a range of sophisticated communication tools and channels to communicate effectively globally while leveraging specific Social Media tools to promote CE International. (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
    3. Manage and maintain CE International’s website using WORDPRESS, with the support of the Webmaster, by keeping the website up to date.
    4. Share interesting and timely education news and program information

    Marketing, Visibility and Data Analysis

    1. Market CE International’s programs and initiatives through the development of press releases, media advisories, advertisements, briefs or speeches, blogs, op-eds, annual reports, and announcements.
    2. Plan and manage external communications and public relations efforts, including but not limited to publicity for events, program launches, breaking news, etc.
    3. Network and represent the organization at events and meetings.
    4. Gather data and analytics to assess communications reach and effectiveness including monitoring of SEO information.
    5. Assist Business Development efforts by supporting communications and outreach to key partners and funders.

    Publications

    1. Support the successful dissemination of CE International’s publications, including Childhood Education Innovations magazine and the Journal of Research in Childhood Education by providing input into a publications dissemination strategy to optimize editorial income.

    CEO Support

    1. Manage the social media accounts and communication efforts of the CEO helping to position the CEO as a thought leader.

    Education and Experience

    • Masters level qualification in relevant field (e.g. global communications, marketing, global education or related field)
    • 7 years plus working experience in communications preferably in an international context, working with national, regional and global dimensions
    • Direct experience and knowledge of global education, global education initiatives and global education policy.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent communication and project management skills; team player and facilitator
    • Experience with website content management is required. (CE International uses WordPress)
    • Ability to quickly understand and absorb new topics, issues and disciplines and distil relevant advocacy and communications strategies from them.
    • Experience writing and editing articles, developing website content, creating reports, developing press releases, writing blogs and managing social media
    • Ability to communicate issues to diverse, global audiences
    • Able to travel internationally on a limited basis, if travel is requested.

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience living or working in a nation outside of the U.S.
    • Ability to speak Spanish or French, a plus, but not required
