    Description

    Position Overview:

    The Major Donor Officer (MDO) will play a crucial role in advancing City Relief’s mission by cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, including individuals, corporate partners, and churches. This position will focus on managing a portfolio of major donors, developing personalized engagement strategies, and ensuring sustained and increased giving.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Major Donor Relationships & Portfolio Management:

    • Identify, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of 80-120 major donors, focusing on gifts of $5,000+ annually.
    • Develop and implement tailored engagement strategies for each donor, including regular touchpoints, personalized communication, and meaningful recognition.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to set and achieve annual fundraising goals and track progress toward those goals.
    • Maintain accurate and timely records of donor interactions and contributions in the Virtuous CRM.
    • Cultivate a pipeline of new major donor prospects to generate increased generosity and/or donors new to City Relief.

    Corporate and Church Partnerships:

    • Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners, identifying opportunities for sponsorship, in-kind donations, and employee engagement.
    • Support the development of church partnerships in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development, fostering meaningful connections that align with City Relief’s mission.
    • Represent City Relief at corporate and church events, networking opportunities, and community gatherings to enhance partnership engagement.

    Donor Engagement & Stewardship:

    • Plan and execute donor cultivation activities, including small group events, one-on-one meetings, and personalized tours of City Relief’s programs.
    • Develop compelling proposals, impact reports, and donor communications that highlight the impact of giving and inspire continued support.
    • Ensure timely and meaningful acknowledgment of all major gifts, fostering a culture of gratitude and recognition.

    Collaboration & Team Support:

    • Work closely with others on the Development team and the Communications team to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment of fundraising efforts.
    • Participate in regular team meetings, sharing insights and updates on donor engagement activities.
    • Support other areas of the organization’s fundraising and outreach efforts as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in major gift fundraising, with a track record of securing significant contributions from individuals, corporations, and/or churches.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • A passion for City Relief’s mission and values, and a commitment to making a positive impact.
    • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Virtuous) a plus.

    Hours, full time. This is a Monday through Friday schedule; however, flexibility is expected to accommodate special events and donor-related needs.

    Community, All staff participate in regular Tuesday morning meetings for times of worship, prayer, discipleship and business meetings. These are key times of community building and deepening of relationships that create a culture of interdependence.
